Owner-Occupied Home Repair Program

Overview

The Owner-Occupied Home Repair Program is designed to aid low-and moderate-income owner-occupied households whose home assessed value does not exceed $636,806 with minor home rehabilitation. Eligibility is based on household income and family size. (refer to chart below):

Eligible households can receive up to $65,000.00 in home repair assistance. (The program does not reimburse for prior rehabilitations.)

Minor Repairs include:

  • Roof replacement
  • Windows & doors replacement
  • Hurricane storm shutters
  • HVAC/Air Conditioning updates; installation
  • Mold Remediation
  • Safety / Hazzard issues

Barrier Free/Special Needs:

  • Improvements for exterior/interior mobility and accessibility
  • Doorway expansions
  • Bathroom and kitchen retrofitting
  • Other life safety improvements

Awarded grant funds are provided with no annual payment schedule as a fifteen-year deferrable loan. Six-point seven percent of the total award amount is forgiven each year until the end of the fifteen-year term, provided the property remain owner-occupied. At the end of the loan period, 100 percent of the loan is forgiven.
