The City of Coral Springs awarded a contract to Sports Facilities Development, LLC (SFC) of Clearwater, Florida for the Facility Optimization & Recreation Master Planning Service to develop a piece of vacant land located behind the Aquatics Complex on Sportsplex Drive for state-of-the-art gymnasium facility to include sports courts, track, bleachers, fitness center, locker rooms, and additional multi-purpose amenities. The firm will reimagine the current Aquatic Complex and Tennis Center sites to enhance functionality and aesthetics. This is to serve as a world class facility for sports activities, community events, and competitions. 

Project Timeline:

  • February 21, 2024: LOI Issued
  • May 1, 2024: Proposal Presentations
  • June 5, 2024: Award of Contract
  • October 2025: Presentation of Master Plan options provided to the City Commission for consideration.
  • January 2026: City Commission approved an amendment to the agreement designating SFC as the Owner’s Representative for the Sportsplex Optimization project.
  • February 2026: Sportsplex Optimization added to the city’s Strategic Plan.
  • March 2026: Development Review Committee (DRC) application submitted for the project.
  • March 26, 2026: LOI #26-A-201 process began for Professional Architecture/Engineering Design Services.

Project Costs

  • Expenditures to Date: $317,500 (March 2025)
  • Preliminary Funding Authorized by Commission to Advance the Project: $1.5 million
