The City of Coral Springs awarded a contract to Sports Facilities Development, LLC of Clearwater, Florida for the Facility Optimization & Recreation Master Planning Service to develop a piece of vacant land located behind the Aquatics Complex on Sportsplex Drive for state-of-the-art gymnasium facility to include basketball courts, track, bleachers, fitness center, and locker rooms. The firm will reimagine the current Aquatics Complex and Tennis Center to enhance functionality and aesthetics. This is to serve as a world class facility for sports activities, events, and competitions. 

Project Timeline:

  • February 21, 2024: LOI Issued
  • May 1, 2024: Proposal Presentations
  • June 5, 2024: Award of Contract
  • October 2025: Presentation of Master Plan options provided to the City Commission for consideration.
  • January 2026: City Commission approved an amendment to the agreement designating SFC as the Owner’s Representative for the Sportsplex Optimization project.
  • February 2026: Sportsplex Optimization added to the city’s Strategic Plan.
  • March 2026: Development Review Committee (DRC) application submitted for the project.

  • Expenditures to Date: $317,500 (March 2025)
  • Preliminary Funding Authorized by Commission to Advance the Project: $1.5 million
