Captain A.J. King currently serves as Captain for Patrol Services for the Coral Springs Police Department (CSPD) where he oversees the Road Patrol and the Humane Unit. Captain King also serves as the Coral Springs Police Department’s Health and Safety Officer. He is responsible for handling all illness complaints, light-duty assignments, and health issues that arise at the police department.

Captain King joined the Coral Springs Police Department in 2006. King served as a Patrol Officer until 2012, when he was transferred to the Training Unit. During his four years in the Training Unit, he was assigned to all trainees, Field Training Officers (FTO), FTO Sergeants, and assisted with innovative trainings. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2016. As a Sergeant, he oversaw a patrol platoon. He was appointed Sergeant in Charge of the Office of Professional Standards and Accreditation in 2021. During this time, he received and investigated all internal and external complaints, as well as assisting with CFA and C.A.L.E.A. assessments and on-site visits. King was further promoted to Road Patrol Lieutenant and Health and Safety Officer in 2022.

Captain King has received three Unit of the Year awards, two Administrative Accommodation awards, two Team Citation awards, three Exceptional Police Initiative awards, two Supervisor of the Year nominations, and was awarded an Emmy. Captain King is also a FDLE High Liability Instructor and one of the police department's certified armorers.

Captain King earned a bachelor's degree from Lynn University in 2003. In 2005, he earned a Master of Science degree from Nova Southeastern University.
