Captain Ryan Gallagher, Criminal Investigations

Deputy Chief Ryan Gallagher currently oversees the Operations Division of the Coral Springs Police Department, including the supervision of the Patrol Unit, Traffic Unit, the Special Operations Component, and the Criminal Investigations Component of the Coral Springs Police Department.

In 2002, Gallagher was sworn in as a law enforcement officer with the Coral Springs Police Department and has since held several leadership positions. In 2009, Gallagher was promoted to Sergeant where he supervised the Patrol, General Investigations, and Crimes Against Persons units as well as the Office of Professional Standards. He was then promoted to Lieutenant in 2014. As a Patrol Lieutenant, Ryan served as Patrol Night Shift Commander and backup investigator for the Office of Professional Standards. In August of 2017, he was promoted to the rank of Captain. As a Captain he supervised the Special Operations Component. This responsibility included the supervision of the SET Unit, K-9 Unit, BEAR Unit, Bikes and Intelligence Unit, and Humane Unit. He also has served as a Field Training Officer, Citizen’s Police Academy Instructor, and a Response to Resistance Board member. In June of 2018, he was transferred to supervise the Criminal Investigations Component of the Coral Springs Police Department. This assignment included the supervision of the General Investigations Unit, Economic Crimes Unit, Special Investigations Unit, Crimes Against Persons Unit, Crime Scene Unit, and the dive team. In 2004 he was transferred to the Substation Unit and in 2005 was promoted to Investigator in the Crimes Against Persons Unit. He began his law enforcement career with the Middletown Township Police Department in 1997.

Deputy Chief Ryan Gallagher graduated from Kean University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice and a master’s degree in Criminology from Florida State University.
