Major Edmond DeRosa, Criminal Investigations

Major Edmond DeRosa oversees the Criminal Investigations Component for the Coral Springs Police Department (CSPD). This component includes the Crimes Against Persons Unit, the Special Victims Unit, the Economic Crimes Unit, the General Investigations Unit, the Crime Scene Unit, Victim Advocates, and Crime Analysts. Major DeRosa also serves as the Crisis Negotiation Team Leader.

Major DeRosa began his career with the Coral Springs Police Department in 2004 and has since served in numerous capacities. In 2019, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant, where he supervised a Patrol Platoon and served as the Health and Safety Officer. In 2016, he was asked to develop the Critical Incident Stress Management Team, which currently serves the tri-county area. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2012 and supervised a squad on Patrol, the General Investigations Unit, and at one point, both General Investigations and the Burglary Enforcement and Reduction Unit (BEAR), a unit that he helped to form in 2011. He served as a Patrol Officer until 2008, at which time he transferred to the General Investigations Unit, where he spent 3 years as a Detective.

Throughout his career, he has served on the Crisis Intervention Team as a member and coordinator and has held other valuable positions such as Field Training Officer, Critical Incident Stress Management Team Leader, and Peer Support Team Leader.

Major DeRosa graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice. He also attended the 78th class of the Southern Police Institute's Command Officer Development Course.
