Battalion Chief Training Anthony Gonzalez

Anthony Gonzalez serves as the Battalion Chief for A Shift with the Coral Springs–Parkland Fire Department. Prior to this role, he served as Battalion Chief assigned to the Training Division.

Chief Gonzalez has been with the City since 1995, beginning his fire service career as a volunteer firefighter before becoming a full-time firefighter in 2000.

Chief Gonzalez holds an Associate of Science Degree in Fire Science and maintains numerous State of Florida certifications, including Live Fire Instructor, Instructor II, Fire Officer II, Incident Safety Officer, Fire Safety Inspector II, Fire Investigator I, and FLUSAR Rescue Specialist. He also earned his Fire Officer Designation from the Center for Public Safety Excellence.

In addition to his departmental leadership roles, Chief Gonzalez is an active member of the Urban Search and Rescue Team, Florida Task Force II, where he serves as a squad boss, leading crews during disaster deployments. His deployments include response efforts in the Florida Panhandle following Hurricane Michael in 2018 and in Puerto Rico after the 2020 earthquakes.

Chief Gonzalez has been an instructor at the Coral Springs Regional Institute of Public Safety since 2004, teaching Minimum Standards, Driver Operator, and Special Operations courses. He also serves as the Lead Instructor for Trench Rescue, one of the most hazardous disciplines in the construction industry, where he trains responders in complex rescue operations requiring the highest level of technical expertise.

Throughout his career, Chief Gonzalez has received numerous awards and recognitions, including Administrative, Lifesaving, Unit and Team Citations, and Meritorious Awards, reflecting his commitment to excellence, service, and professional development.
