Plan Review Process & Timelines

Whether you're submitting plans for a new construction project or a renovation, understanding the review process and timelines can help you plan ahead and avoid delays.

  1. Upon submittal, your documents will be reviewed by a permit services representative. This initial review may take up to two (2) business days. If any issues are found, your application will be placed on HOLD, and you will be notified of the required corrections.
  2. If no issues are identified, your submittal will be routed to a plans examiner for each applicable discipline for formal review. This review process may take up to seven (7) business days. Note: If the application process was started prior to January 1, 2026 by paper, the review process may take up to fifteen (15) business days.
  3. Once all applicable disciplines approve your submittal, a permit services representative will prepare an invoice for all applicable permit fees and notify you that your permit is ready for payment. This process may take up to two (2) business days.
  4. Once all permit fees have been paid, your permit will be issued and you may begin work. Permits are issued within one (1) to two (2) business days from date of payment.
