Catherine Givens became the City Manager of Coral Springs in January 2025, marking a historic moment as the first female to hold the position in the city's history. A fourth-generation Coral Springs resident, Givens embodies the community's values while bringing a global perspective to her leadership.

Givens joined the City of Coral Springs in 2016 as Director of Budget and Strategy, rising through the ranks to become Assistant City Manager in 2021 and Deputy City Manager in May 2022. As Deputy City Manager, she oversaw a diverse portfolio, including Budget, the Office of Sustainability, Development Services, Economic Development, and the Building Department. Her role also encompassed managing the city’s $300 million budget and facilitating strategic planning, sustainability initiatives, intergovernmental relations, and grant management.

With a proven track record of leadership, Givens spearheaded transformative initiatives such as the city’s Visioning process, which engaged residents across generations to prioritize Coral Springs’ focus areas for the next decade. Guided by community input and strategic Commission goals, her short- and long-term priorities include advancing sustainability practices, enhancing city aesthetics, fostering economic growth, supporting premier public safety, and ensuring fiscal responsibility.

An advocate for education, Givens launched the Education Relationship Manager position in 2023 to strengthen ties between city schools, government, and community stakeholders. As a Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School alumna, she credits her success to Broward County's strong public school system and extracurricular programs, such as the Eagle Regiment Marching Band. Givens is deeply committed to ensuring every Coral Springs student has access to resources that foster academic and personal success.

Prior to joining the city, Givens spent over a decade at Franklin Templeton Investments, where she managed global performance and risk analytics teams across India, England, Poland, and other regions. This experience sharpened her skills in financial management, strategic planning, and leadership.

Givens holds a Bachelor of Finance and an MBA in Global Entrepreneurship and Finance from Florida State University. She has contributed to numerous professional organizations, including the Junior League of Greater Fort Lauderdale, Leadership Broward, Florida Sterling Council, and multiple municipal management associations. She also serves as Public Education Liaison for Coral Springs schools and Trustee on the Coral Springs Police Pension Board.

Catherine is supported in her leadership journey by her husband, Michael, a military veteran and public servant, and their 15-year-old son, T.D., an avid soccer player. Together, they share a deep passion for community, education, and preserving Coral Springs as a family-friendly and vibrant city.

When asked during her City Manager interview why she was ready to take on this role, Givens confidently stated, “I’m ready.” With her vision, dedication, and servant leadership, Givens aims to continue Coral Springs’ legacy as the premier community to live, work, and raise a family.
