Celebration of Life Arrangements Announced for Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer
The family of Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer will host a Celebration of Life on Friday, April 17, at 12:30 p.m. at Church by the Glades, 400 Lakeview Drive, Coral Springs. Guests are asked to arrive by 12 p.m.
A public viewing and last opportunity to pay respects will be held prior to the service from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. To honor cultural traditions, we kindly ask attendees to avoid wearing shades of red, burgundy, or purple, as these colors are considered disrespectful.
The service will be livestreamed for those who are unable to attend in person. Media is not permitted inside the church, and the family respectfully asks that no photos or video be taken inside the sanctuary.
Media parking will be located across from the north entrance to Church by the Glades, inside the park area at Club Lake Pointe Apartments. From there, media should walk southbound along Lakeview Drive until arriving at the entrance to Club Lake Pointe Apartments. The designated media staging area will be located along the sidewalk across from the south entrance to Church by the Glades on the east side of Lakeview Drive.

April 10, 2026 - 11:20 a.m.
The Coral Springs Police Department has received an increase in public records requests from several media outlets seeking incident reports, supplemental reports, and all calls for service at the residence of Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer. After these requests were fulfilled, several media outlets published significant inaccuracies and misleading information, stating that prior 911 calls for service involving Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer were related to domestic violence. April 2, 2026 - 1:45 p.m.
At the time of this update, the City of Coral Springs / Coral Springs Police Department has released all information currently available for public disclosure. The investigation remains active and ongoing; therefore, the release of any additional details at this time could compromise the integrity of the criminal investigation.
April 1, 2026 - 7:30 p.m.
On Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at approximately 10:04 AM, the Coral Springs Police Department initiated an investigation into the well-being of Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer Bowen. Officers with the Coral Springs Police Department responded to her residence, located at the 800 block of NW 127th Avenue, Coral Springs, Florida 33071.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a deceased black female victim within the residence and positively identified her as Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer Bowen. Through the preliminary investigation, it was determined the incident was domestic in nature and the husband, Stephen Bowen (DOB 09/06/1985), is in police custody. At this time there are no additional suspects being sought or threat to the community.
The Coral Springs Police Department Crimes Against Persons Unit (CAPS) is actively investigating the incident and encourages anyone with information regarding this incident to contact Detective Daniel Powers at 954-346-1223 or dpowers@coralsprings.gov.

April 1, 2026 - 4:50 p.m.
The Coral Springs Police Department is currently working a death investigation involving the City of Coral Springs Vice Mayor, Nancy Metayer Bowen. It is still an active investigation. We will be hosting a press conference at the Coral Springs City Hall, 9500 West Sample Road, today, at 5:45 pm in the Sawgrass Room. Media, enter through the main doors located on the South Side of the building. Parking is available out front or in the parking garage.
