I look forward to seeing many members of the community during our Faith & Blue Community BBQ that is schedule to take place on Saturday, October 7 from 12 to 3 p.m. at Forest Hills Park (2500 Forest Hills Blvd.) Faith & Blue is a national event that brings together law enforcement and residents to build connections, create mutual understanding, and enhance justice and reconciliation.
As we prepare to enjoy the approaching holiday season, I want to remind the community that safety and well-being of our residents is the Coral Springs Police Department’s top priority.
While holiday shopping, please be sure to follow simple safety tips that can help to prevent your vehicle from being burglarized. First, always be sure to lock your vehicles. Remove valuables, especially key fobs, from your car when you leave. If an item must be left in the car, do not leave it in plain sight. Additionally, never leave a firearm in the car, as it can be taken and used in other crimes. Watch this helpful video for more tips on keeping your vehicle safe.
We know the holiday season is also a time when residents frequently travel to visit family and friends. If you’re planning a vacation this holiday season, we encourage you to sign up for our Vacation Watch Program. If you plan a vacation for more than five days, but less than 30, a Coral Springs Police Officer will stop by your home and make sure everything remains secure. For more information, click here.
We have been fortunate to avoid a direct hit from a hurricane so far this year, but please remember that hurricane season continues through November 30, and it is crucial to stay prepared. Stay tuned to weather updates and have an emergency plan in place for you and your family. We also encourage you to sign up for emergency alerts by texting AlertCS to 888-777
Finally, I would like to extend a special thank you to all the school staff who have been working hard to make sure school year has been going smoothly. If you’re seeking ways to get involved with the community, consider joining the Community Ambassadors Program and the SafeKeepers Program. The Community Ambassadors Program is a great opportunity to have open dialogue about controversial topics with members of our community, including myself. It’s a platform where diverse perspectives are valued, and understanding grows. The SafeKeepers program evolved from the Community Ambassador Program. SafeKeepers are volunteers stationed at schools who aim to create a positive environment for students as they arrive and leave school every day.
