Coral Springs, FL– On August 15, at approximately 8:26 pm, the Coral Springs Police Department received multiple 9-1-1 calls in reference to shots fired in the area of the 9200 Block of Ramblewood Drive. One of the callers reported that he heard four gunshots and then observed a white male, later identified as Chase Harder, carrying a child over his shoulder, run to a white Mercedes SUV, and flee the parking lot. Multiple officers responded to the scene, where a deceased victim with multiple gunshot wounds was located. Through investigative resources, we were able to quickly obtain a license plate for the vehicle Harder was observed fleeing in and started our investigation. At approximately 11:03 pm, we received a call from the child’s biological father saying that Harder had dropped the child off at his residence. Harder later contacted the Coral Springs Police Department to turn himself in and was subsequently arrested in the lobby of our Police Station. When Detectives were interviewing Harder, he confessed to the incident. Harder has been charged with one count of Premeditated Murder and one count of Written Threats to Kill or Do Bodily Injury (2nd Degree). At this time, we cannot release details of the victim, as the next of kin has yet to be notified. A special thank you to our Patrol Officers, Detectives, Real Time Crime Center, Strategic Enforcement Team, Burglary Enforcement and Reduction Unit, Crime Scene Unit, Dispatch, and other surrounding agencies for their assistance. If there are any additional witnesses or anyone with information about this case, please contact Detective James Kaban at 954-346-1229.
