City Announces 2023 MLK Scholarship Recipients

Published on May 22, 2023

Coral Springs, FL – Twelve local high school seniors have been selected by the Coral Springs Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK) Committee to receive this year’s MLK Scholarship to use for the 2023-2024 academic year.

The scholarships provide funds to financially deserving, local students who, through their words and actions, embody the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s teachings on peace, racial harmony, community service and bettering the lives of others. Recipients were recognized at the Coral Springs City Commission Meeting on Wednesday, May 17. Coral Springs Commissioner Joshua Simmons, who serves as the Commission Liaison for the MLK Committee, is continually impressed with the students who get involved in the community.

“The students honored with this year’s MLK Scholarships are the leaders of tomorrow,” Simmons said.” They are active in their community, engaged in issues of importance to their generation, and they are not afraid to stand up for equality and human rights. I’m very proud of these young residents, and I wish them all continued success as they pursue higher education.”
