Lieutenant Jonathan Banke, Patrol Services

Lieutenant Jonathan Banke currently serves as one of the Patrol Lieutenants assigned to the Bravo Shift. He also serves the Commander of the department’s Civil Unrest and Tactical Support team (CUTS). Lieutenant Banke began his career with the Coral Springs Police Department in 2006 assigned to the Patrol Unit. He’s held various positions since joining the department.

During his time in the Patrol Unit, he worked on the Alpha Shift, and in 2009, became a Field Training Officer. In 2010, he was transferred into the Tactical and Gang Unit. During his time assigned to Patrol and the Tactical and Gang Units, Lieutenant Banke also served as a member of the Special Weapons and Tactics Team from 2008 to 2012. In 2012 he was transferred to the K-9 Unit where he served with his K-9 partner, “Thor.” In 2017 he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant where he began supervising a Patrol squad. In 2018 he became the Sergeant of the Burglary Enforcement and Reduction Unit. In 2020 he was transferred to the Criminal Investigations Component where he became the Sergeant overseeing the Crimes Against Persons Unit (CAPs). He remained in this position until his promotion to the rank of Lieutenant which occurred at the end of 2021.

During his career Lieutenant Banke has earned two Lifesaving Commendations, seven Exceptional Police Initiative Commendations, five Team Citations, and one Administrative Service Commendation. Lieutenant Banke has been named the Officer of the Month twice, received numerous Letters of Commendation and letters of appreciation from citizens, was named the 2019 Supervisor of the Year, and has also been a member of the Unit of the Year four times (2008 Patrol, 2011 T.A.G., 2015 K-9, 2021 CAPs).

Lieutenant Banke graduated from Florida International University with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and also holds a Master of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Central Florida.
