District Chief Stephanie Palmer began her career as a Firefighter/EMT over 22 years ago. She worked her way through the ranks holding the position of Paramedic, Driver Engineer, Lieutenant, Captain, Battalion Chief, and Division Chief of Training, before being selected as District Chief for B-Shift in the Spring of 2020. Throughout her career, she was the Dive Team Commander, Field Training Officer (FTO) program manager, IAFF Peer Fitness Trainer, and a member of the Safety and Health Committee.

Stephanie has a Bachelor of Science in Fire Administration. Chief Palmer was an instructor at the Fire Academy for over 13 years, covering both EMS and Fire related classes. She is an instructor for the Florida State Safety Officer series, Fire Officer I/II and Technical Rescue Courses. Chief Palmer is a Chief Fire Officer (CFO) with the Center for Public Safety Excellence (CPSE), Instructor II, Florida State Fire Officer III, Florida State Safety Officer, Advanced Swiftwater Technician, Dive Team and Peer support member. She has served on the FEMA Homeland Security Urban Search & Rescue Florida Task Force (FLTF2) since 2002. They deployed Stephanie on several search missions as a Rescue Specialist and she currently serves as a Search Team Manager (STM). The position handles daily search missions for members of the K-9 team and rescue squads.

Chief Palmer has received many lifesaving awards and unit citations over the years. Stephanie is most proud of a Meritorious Duty Award she received in 2014 for saving a woman during a fire and serving with members on the US&R team during the Surfside Champlain Towers Collapse in June 2021.
