The Building Department is Going Paperless!

Effective January 1, 2026, the Building Department will no longer be processing paper permits.
You may submit your permits electronically at
eTRAKiT

Should you need to submit paper plans to the Building Department, they will be scanned for electronic submittal and returned to you. The following fees will apply:

Technology Fee $20 per permit
Documents Larger than 11" x 17" $2.00 per sheet

Emergency Work Notifications Transition to Digital Format

For Contractors Only:
Reporting emergency work is now faster and more convenient. Our Emergency Work Notification form is now available online, allowing you to easily report emergency repairs—such as air conditioning or water heater replacements—prior to permit issuance. This streamlined process helps ensure compliance while keeping your project on track.

DER Policy Change (Education Fees)

Effective Thursday, November 20, 2025, Broward County Development & Environmental Review will no longer collect Education Fees. These fees will be collected by the Broward County School Board. Click here for more information.
