Coral Springs, FL –  Coral Springs Mayor Scott Brook was formally installed as the Florida League of Mayors (FLM) president during the group’s Business Meeting on Wednesday, August 9 in Orlando.

The installation and meeting took place at the Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek and included current and past FLM Board Members, fellow Florida Mayors, and Brook’s colleagues from the Coral Springs Commission. Coral Springs City Manager Frank Babinec and City Attorney John Hearn were also in attendance to show support for Brook’s appointment to president.

In his position, Brook plans to encourage all Florida Mayors to raise their collective voices together to promote the betterment of their communities and the state. Specifically, Brook – a known advocate for mental health awareness – will encourage fellow mayors across the state to embrace a strong mental health mindset for their communities.

“I am committed to three primary objectives in my year as the President of the Florida League of Mayors: making sure our cities have resources to deal with the mental health crisis, sharing connection and best practices with Mayors throughout the State, and regularly inviting our State Leaders to hear from the Mayors so we can collaborate much more than in the past,” Brook said.

The FLM was created in 2005 to serve the educational and professional needs of Florida’s Mayors. Mayors are provided leadership training, educational instruction and professional networking opportunities. The FLM fosters an environment that promotes cooperation for the general improvement and efficient administration of Florida’s municipalities. Their membership statement focuses on vision, leadership, and public service.

Brook has been a member of the FLM for four years. This is his first appointment as president of the group.
