City Seeks Artists for Art of Data Project

Published on September 12, 2022

Coral Springs, FL – The City of Coral Springs is seeking artists to create pieces for their upcoming exhibit, Art of Data, which will be on display at Coral Springs City Hall (9500 W Sample Rd.) in spring 2023.

Creative and numerical worlds will collide with the Art of Data, a collaborative exhibit from the City of Coral Springs Office of Budget, Intergovernmental, Strategy, and Sustainability that asks artists to take city data and interpret it through their own artistic medium. Regularly used to uncover patterns, determine future expenditures, track environmental change, and more, data is an important tool used by municipalities to make everyday decisions. This exhibit will explore what happens when common statistics are morphed into a visual representation.

According to City of Coral Springs Financial Data Analyst, Marissa Williams, the exhibit, which has been shown successfully in other cities nationwide, has the power to fuse two types of thinking into one visual representation that community members can more easily understand and interpret.

“We are excited for this exhibit because it reimagines data, and it will strive to advance the understanding of the performance and function of municipal government,” Williams said. “In Coral Springs, we are always looking for transparent and creative ways to effectively communicate city data to the community, and this exhibit does just that.”
