Coral Springs, FL – The Coral Springs Community Garden will soon receive a new facility thanks to a $122,250 donation from the Rotary Club of Coral Springs that was presented at the City Commission Meeting on Wednesday, March 15.

The funds, provided in conjunction with P&H Interiors and the Levitetz Family Foundation, will be used to construct a new on-site pavilion at the garden that can be used for shade, picnics, gatherings, and more. The donation is being made in memory of Kevin Connor Jr., a farmer and son of P&H Interiors founder, Susan Connor, who tragically passed away in a farming accident 2021.

Stef Verleysen, President of the Rotary Club of Coral Springs is proud of the project, what it stands for, and the potential impact it will have.

“Despite their tragic loss, the Connor family, along with the Rotary Club of Coral Springs District 6990 and the Levitetz Family Foundation, have created something incredibly beautiful and empowering for others,” Verleysen said. “The continued development of this green space, expanded partnership with the City of Coral Springs, and permanent structure will impact many lives for years to come.”

Former Coral Springs Mayor and city volunteer, Roy Gold, is also the creator of the community garden in Coral Springs and heavily involved with the Garden. He and Verleysen met while participating in a garden cleanup event in December 2021, and Gold brought up the idea to raise money from the City to make significant improvements to the volunteer group, Stef offered the Rotary's support to rally both private and public support of the garden.

“At the time, the garden needed some improvements, and I was extremely pleased Rotary stepped in and partnered to lend their support, Gold said. “They have really stepped up, and with the additional support we’ve received we’ll be able to create a positive environmental, sustainable impact for years to come.”

In addition to the donation, the Rotary Club has been working with city staff on future upkeep, maintenance, and improvements, including support for ongoing development, fence installation, clean drinking water, greater accessibility and more.
