Coral Springs, FL – Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department Fire Inspector II, Ralph Troino, will retire this summer after 40 years of service to the Coral Springs and Parkland communities.
Troino is the longest tenured firefighter in the history of the department, originally joining the service on February 11,1983. Troino was recently honored at a City Commission meeting where Fire Chief Michael McNally shared Troino’s history with the department and thanked him for his years of service.
“It’s hard to truly show how much I appreciate Ralph and the sacrifices and contributions he’s made over the years,” McNally said. “The lives that he’s impacted, lives that he’s touched, the businesses and the properties that he’s made safer for our firefighting operations is something that doesn’t get noticed as much as it should, and I appreciate everything he’s done.”
Troino first started with the department as a firefighter at Station 4, now known as Station 80. He has served in several capacities during his years in service. He initially earned his Fire Inspector Certification in 1990 and became a full-time Fire Inspector in 1992. Since then, he’s served in capacities as Lieutenant and Captain at various stations throughout the city, and has earned numerous certifications including Fire Instructor, Fire Officer, Fire Investigator I and II, and Passenger Safety. He is also the recipient of numerous citation awards. Frank Babinec, Coral Springs City Manager, and former Fire Chief, praised Troino for his dedication to the city.
“In addition to the long list of awards and certifications that he’s received, just imagine the lives that he’s saved over the years,” Babinec said. “I greatly appreciate the tremendous amount of work that Ralph has given to this community.
Troino is originally from Long Island, New York, which is where he was first inspired to become a firefighter.
