City Receives Distinguished Budget Presentation Award

Coral Springs, FL – The City of Coral Springs Department of Budget and Strategy has been awarded the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the current fiscal year, which began on October 1, 2019. 

Mayor Scott Brook commended staff for their exceptional efforts, saying, “The Department of Budget and Strategy exceeded expectations, going above and beyond with innovative decision making and analysis of our city’s budget. The accomplished this all while prioritizing and supporting our organizational and strategic priorities. Thanks to their continued efforts Coral Springs has received this prestigious award 29 times. This recognition is a true testament to their passion for public service.” 

Nationally recognized strategies for effective budget presentation need to be satisfied by the Department of Budget and Strategy to earn the GFOA. These guidelines are designed to assess how well an entity's budget serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operational guide, and communication tool. 

Of the recognition, City Manager Frank Babinec said, “It is an honor for our city to receive the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting. This achievement reflects the hard work and dedication of our Budget and Strategy team. Their commitment to meeting and exceeding the highest principles of governmental budgeting, serves as an example of our organization’s commitment to efficiency and transparency.”
