Coral Springs, FL – The Telly Awards, the world’s largest honor for video and television content across all screens, announced this month that the City of Coral Springs has been named a Bronze Winner for two of the city’s 2021 social media videos.

Selected from more than 11,000 entries from across the globe, the Coral Springs videos, produced by the Coral Springs Communications and Marketing Department, were selected as winners for the Social Video - Health and Wellness and Recruitment categories. In these categories, the city’s videos are ranked alongside global, top-tier brands such as Johnson & Johnson, AARP, Yahoo, Novartis, and more. The videos selected focused on Suicide Awareness and Prevention and Police Recruitment.

“Once again the City of Coral Springs Communications & Marketing Department demonstrated its talent for compelling visual storytelling that impacts lives which elevated important messaging surrounding mental health,” said Mayor Scott Brook.

Brook shared a personal story about his mom’s tragic passing from suicide for the Suicide Awareness Video. The video was strategically published during the month of September 2021 to shine a light on Suicide Awareness Month. The video and Mayor Brook’s openness opened the door to greater conversation to help break the stigma surrounding mental health and suicide.

“I was honored to share my family’s story,” Brook said. “If the video helped just one person to open up about their mental health struggle, then we’ve achieved our goal.”

The Coral Springs Police Department, like law enforcement across the nation, was challenged to fill vacancies for vital sworn police officer positions. The second award-winning video addressed that need by attracting experienced officers looking for a career with a highly trained, progressive organization. The video garnered hundreds of likes and dozens of shares on social media which helped the department to fill employment gaps.

“The campaign was especially successful in bringing in new talent from out of state because it showcased our supportive community,” said Coral Springs Police Chief Brad McKeone. “Our department is fortunate to work alongside a marketing team who are committed to meeting the needs of our organization.”

The videos were written, produced, filmed, and edited by Video Production Manager Ryan Himmel, Videographer/ Photographer Josh Berlant, and Videographer/Photographer Garrett Julian.
