Coral Springs, FL – Alex Hernandez, Chief Building Official for the City of Coral Springs, has been appointed to the Florida Building Code Administrators and Inspectors Board according to an April 2022 press release from the Office of Governor Ron DeSantis.

The Florida Building Code Administrators and Inspectors Board is a part of the Department of Business and Professional Regulation, and members are appointed by the Governor to serve a four-year term. The board’s purpose is to regulate the practice of building code administration and inspection in the state when it is deemed necessary in the interest of public health and safety.

“Thanks to Alex’s leadership and commitment to safety, the Coral Springs Building Department is known across the state for its high standards of building integrity, exceptional customer service and innovative permitting practices,” said Coral Springs City Manager Frank Babinec. “Alex is an excellent choice for this select group of Florida Building Code Administrators and Inspectors.”

Hernandez joined the City of Coral Springs as Chief Building Official in 2015. Prior to joining the city, he served 19 years with the City of Fort Lauderdale as an Inspector, Plans Examiner and Assistant Building Official. Hernandez has been a state licensed contractor for 33 years. He is also a member of the Building Officials Association of Florida and the Association of State Floodplain Managers.
