Captain William Reid, Patrol Services
Captain William Reid currently oversees Patrol Operations as the Alpha Shift Captain for the Coral Springs Police Department (CSPD.)
Captain Reid joined CSPR in 1997 where he has served as a Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, Master LEO, and Criminal Investigations Detective. In 2008, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant where he has supervised the Patrol Unit, Tactical & Gang Unit, K-9 Unit, and the Special Victims Unit. Captain Reid has served as Staff Inspections Team Leader, FDLE Firearms Instructor, and the Executive Officer of the agency’s CUTS and SWAT Teams. Captain Reid retired from SWAT in 2014 after 13 years of service.
Captain Reid began his law enforcement career in 1996 serving as an officer with the City of Pinellas Park.
As a U.S.A.F. Gulf War veteran, Reid has received several team citations and commendations for Meritorious Service, Exceptional Police Initiative, and Administrative Service. He was a member of the agency’s Unit of the Year in 2009, 2011, and 2018, was named Supervisor of the Year in 2010 (Tactical & Gang Unit) and 2018 (Special Victims Unit.) He was also a 2021 Broward Sheriff’s Advisory Council Medal of Valor Recipient.
Captain Reid holds a master’s degree in Public Administration from Troy University and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix. He is also a graduate of the 75th Southern Police Institute Command Officers Development Course.
