Much of the energy produced is consumed by buildings. Building to green building standards, such as LEED, FGBC and Green Globes can reduce energy consumption and our reliance on fossil fuels.
The City of Coral Springs understands the importance of building to green standards, which is why all development coming into the City is encouraged to build to green.
The City’s Municipal Complex was built following sustainable building practices through sustainable site planning, energy and water efficiency, conservation of materials and resources and indoor environmental air quality.
Fire Station 80, located at 2825 Coral Springs Drive, was the first LEED Gold certified Fire Station in Broward County. At 12,500 square feet, the structure incorporates recycled materials, energy efficiency equipment, a 36kW Solar Photovoltaic system and Florida-Friendly landscaping.
