Michael McNally serves as Fire Chief for the City of Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department.

McNally began his career with the department as a Fire Explorer in 1989 and a volunteer firefighter in 1993 and has served in numerous public safety roles in Coral Springs and surrounding communities since.

McNally worked for Coral Springs Dispatch Communications from 1993-1997 before transitioning to the City of Coconut Creek in 1997 and City of Parkland in 2001, where he served as a law enforcement officer and firefighter. He returned to Coral Springs in 2004 as a Lieutenant, was promoted to Battalion Chief in 2009, Chief of Training in 2011, and in 2014 became the department’s Deputy Fire Chief. In February 2020, he was selected to be the city’s 13th Fire Chief.

McNally has served as an instructor at the Coral Springs Regional Institute of Public Safety (CSRIPS) since 2002, teaching minimum standards, Driver Engineer, Technical Rescue, and Leadership Development. He took over day-to-day operations of CSRIPS in 2011. During McNally’s tenure at CSRIPS, he developed partnerships with area departments for training, expanded promotional testing, and increased the number of courses provided to the public.

McNally also served as Secretary on the Executive Board of the Florida Fire Training Directors Association from 2011-2018. In this capacity he helped enhance firefighter training throughout Florida. Under his leadership, CSRIPS received the Florida Fire Training and Education Provider of the Year in 2011 and 2013.

McNally holds both Chief Training Officer and Chief Fire Officer designations from the Center for Public Safety Excellence and Fire Officer IV from the Florida Bureau of Fire Standards and Training. McNally has also been a Rescue Team Manager with FEMA Urban Search and Rescue Florida Task Force 2. He was deployed to Haiti in 2010 following the devastating earthquake, Mexico Beach in 2018 following Hurricane Michael, and the Champlain Towers Collapse in Surfside in 2021. In his role as Deputy Fire Chief, McNally oversaw Professional Standards and Training, Community Risk Reduction, Administration, Safety and Health, and the Dive Rescue team. McNally currently serves as the Secretary on the board of directors for the Fire Chief’s Association of Broward County and as the Liaison to the Hundred Club of Broward County.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership from St. Thomas University and his master’s degree in Emergency Services Management through Columbia Southern University in 2020.

McNally is married to Rebeca, a firefighter for the City of Coral Gables, and they have two children, Liam and Alana. He is tremendously grateful for his loving family’s unwavering support throughout his career.
